Where Are They Now?

Dallas
"Just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how pleased Keven and I are with Dallas, We traveled
around the country until march 30 and then went home, when we got here we decided to stay and do
local work. Unfortunately that means we wont be able to visit quite as often, we will miss you and
your gang.
Hats off to you and your gang for all you have done for Dallas, Keven and myself, I couldn't imagine
there could be a place that does any better work or care about animals any more than you people at
the shelter. Special thanks for Dallas's ride to and from the vets. LOTS OF LOVE AND ADMIRATION

Monkey Face, Sweety Pie and Tweety Bird
"About a year and a half ago we lost our one of a kind cat "Li'l Dude". He was so very special to
my husband and I - a really neat and loving cat who loved to watch me do dishes and unload the
dishwasher. He always came running to help with folding laundry and had a special piece of my
husband's heart.
It took us a while to get over his sudden loss due to a congenital defect. Part of our "therapy"
was to visit the Humane Society to spend time with the many beautiful animals you have rescued. While
there, we fell in love with a cute little kitten who had a bright pink nose. He was so full of
energy and yet at the same time could be very calm when you picked him up to give him some love.
My husband and I weren't sure if we were quite ready to bring another kitten into the house so soon
after losing Li'l Dude. We knew that another cat would never replace his one of a kind personality.
After a day or so of thinking about it we decided we could fill some of the void by welcoming that
little pink nose kitten into our home.
My husband went in to pick him up and I reminded him to "make sure you get the one with the pink
nose". Low and behold, when I got home there he was - bright pink nose and all. Then, from the
corner of my eye, from around the corner came what looked like his clone! My husband couldn't bear
to leave his little sister behind. She is his mirror image (although slightly smaller in build)
with identical markings - except the remarkable pink nose. It didn't take long for them to get
acclimatized to their new surroundings and new family.
A couple of weeks later, when coming into work downtown a fellow co-worker caught my attention. She
was standing outside the building & I remember wondering why she wasn't going in. As I approached
her I noticed she was holding a little orange kitten about 4 months old. He had been begging for
attention in a near by parking lot, rubbing up against people as they got out of their cars to head
towards their offices. He was so very loving and had quite a voice on him.
Worried about him being hit by a car downtown, we brought him into the office and started making
some phone calls. No one had reported him missing at the pound or the Humane Society. There was
no room at the Humane Society for him so when I asked Tracey what we could do with him she asked
if I could take him until she had an opening.
Of course we had just adopted two kittens who by then we had named "Monkey Face" (aka pink nose)
and "Sweety Pie" so I was worried about bringing another kitten into the house, if even only
temporarily. Tracey right away got us an appointment at the Vet for this little guy to get him
checked over and a set of shots. My husband came in and picked him up and was very apprehensive.
Three kittens at one time was a little scary, but I assured him we'd only keep him until a space
opened up.
The strange part was this little orange tabby resembled our L'il Dude quite a bit. Truth be told,
we all knew (Tracey included) that this little guy would win our hearts. In only a few short days
he right away began getting along with the crew and that was that. Tracey did call when an opening
came up later that same week, but by then "Tweety Bird" was already a solid member of the family.
Who'd have thought that by losing one unexpectedly we'd be able to save three more!!
Thank you for all the great work you do with these animals who are so very much in need of a loving
home. They make our lives so very enjoyable. I only wish I could adopt more.

Tessa
"Tessa is such a lovely, loving cat. She is very 'chatty' and is my constant companion. She
loves to wrestle with our pup Sasha and kibitz with our cat Shadow. Tessa remains extremely agile
and fast, with an adventurous bend! We have found her exploring the most unlikely places/heights
in the furnace room, and witnessed her outdoors on a leash managing to catch a bird mid-flight.
Although (and thankfully), the bird managed to escape unharmed, this is a testament to her spirit
and nature! Thank you for allowing us to give her a home. We love her dearly."

Ruby
"Ruby, the greyhound, has settled into our home. She has really come out of her shell and has
started to show a "puppy" side of her personality. The first few months were challenging while
she learned about house training, windows and glass doors but along with all of that comes the
privilege of cuddling on the couch with her new family. She has learned several new words
including walk, treats and car ride and she dances around the house when she hears them. She
has the sweetest personality and is the "princess" of the household.
Ruby is now the big sister
of a new dog in our home. In January, we adopted a second greyhound, Elsa, from Funds for
Furry Friends. At first Ruby was a little put out because she was no longer an only "child" but
has now learned the joys of having an other dog to play with. I have sent a few pictures to of
our girls. As you can see, they are enjoying retired life."

Meko
"Hi there, just wanted to say what a WONDERFUL cat Meko is. He settled right
in when we brought him home, and made a best friend within minutes. He is
such a funny character with the tiniest feminine meow. Him and his best
friend "Pink" are found either bathing each other lovingly, or play
fighting in the middle of the floor. We love him so much and are so
grateful to have found such a wonderful little guy, not to mention
gorgeous."

Lexi
February - 2007 "Hi Guys, just a note to say how well our Lexi is working
out - she has made an excellent edition to our family! She gives us our exercise (2 hrs a day and
sometimes longer) and when in the house she is a complete little teddy bear - albeit sometimes a BAD
little bear but she is our BAD little bear! She loves cuddling in our bed with us and her sister
Bailey. We are so grateful for finding her. Thank God you guys took her in! Here is Lexi and a
former dog that you also helped save - Socrates!
Here is another picture of our little girl "Lexi" playing out back in the snow with one of her
favorite toys...a squeaky ball.
Her favorite thing is to have me kick the ball...she chases the ball & waits until I get to where she
is...I kick the ball again...and the cycle continues! She has settled in very well and like Walter
said, she is a wonderful addition to our family! She loves to cuddle with us in our bed esp. in the
mornings. She puts her little pink nose close to my neck, she wraps her paw around me & I wrap my
paw around her & off we go to sleep...she even snores! So we are the lucky ones indeed to have her
in our life!
Thank you once again!"

June - 2007 "Hello Folks! Do you remember me? Lexi? I am Lexi "Lou" now...at
least that is what my mommy tells me anyways. I wanted to let you know how I am doing these days.
I am doing great! I have a doggie sister & a cat sister too. As a little sister typically does,
sometimes I pick on them both but they still love me just the same! My mommy & daddy both
kiss & cuddle me all the time & I sleep in bed with them whenever I want. I usually cuddle in bed
with them first thing in the night then first thing in the morning too. I usually find it too warm
so I sleep on my little bed right beside theirs during the rest of the night.
Recently I went on my first road trip to Ontario to get my big human brother and had a great time! I
got to sleep in hotels & even went to a few beaches along the way where I went swimming & played
with my favourite ball on the beach. I had an awesome time!
I want to say thank you to all of you there for everything that you did for me. My mommy & daddy tell
me all the time how much they love me & how happy I make them. They say they are the lucky ones. I
sent along a few pictures of me on the beach & at some parks on our family road trip. Thank you
again everyone & my mommy & daddy says thank you too.
Love..."Lexi Lou"

Norah
"Hello, I wanted to let you know that Norah is doing wonderful. She is so much fun to have around.
Always getting into trouble but she is great! I love coming home to her at lunch and after work.
She is in Puppy Kindergarten right now and is doing really well. Thank you so much for making her
part of our lives, she is amazing!!"

Serena & Tigger
"We adopted Serena and Tigger in August 2006 and they have been a wonderful addition to our family.
They both settled into our house really quickly and it feels like they have been around forever. As you
can see by the picture they are the best of buddies and spend a lot of time together lying in the sun.
They are both really laid back cats
and they enjoy playing with our 2-year old daughter, which surprised us all! Thank you to the
Humane Society for giving us these beautiful cats. They have really enriched
our lives."

Buttons (Kendra)
"For all of those that miss Kendra from the Humane Society, know that she's doing fine! We
changed her name to Buttons, because she's a cute as one! She's such a spoiled little girl
now. She has her chair with her pillows and no one is allowed to sit there, nor will she sleep
anywhere else! She has more toys than she knows what to do with. And she's always up for a
game of chase me. I don't know how she was while she was there, but now she's such a big suck,
always wanting cuddles and pets. And we're of course, always giving in to those sweet blue eyes
of hers. She likes to play with our hedgehog, Stitch, some days. Some days she still forgets
he's spiky, when she goes to swat him. Silly! She always gives us licks on the nose before
bed, almost like she's saying goodnight! Also, she's a big time Daddy's girl, always needing
to cuddle with Kris. She's the perfect addition to the family. I'd like to thank you for
giving us the opportunity to adopt such a sweet little kitty."

Tuxedo
"This is an update about Tuxedo, former resident of the Brandon Humane Society.
Tuxedo was adopted approximately a year and a half ago by my mother. My mother is a senior
and decided that she would like to have a cat to keep her company & to look after. She decided
that she liked Tuxedo, who was looking for a forever home at that time & as it turns out "it
was a match made in heaven".
Tuxedo is my mom's constant companion, he sits on her knee & cuddles with her when she is
sitting in her chair & sleeps on her bed at night. My mom is hearing impaired & Tuxedo has
taken it upon himself to alert her if anyone is at the door or if the telephone rings. He
always likes it when company comes over & is very friendly & "purry".
And Tuxedo looks great; he is one happy & contented big kitty!!!

Opal & Storm
September - 2006 "I'd like everyone to know that Storm & Opal are doing very well. We accepted Storm as a foster kitten
when he was found, at age 4 weeks, in a dumpster. Shortly after, Opal, 5 weeks old, was seen falling
off a farm truck and since they were so close in age, we thought they would be good company for each
other. So we fostered the two of them until they were old enough to be adopted. Then WE adopted them
as we had fallen in love with the two little darlings. They bonded, with close ties, and do everything
together. They are the best of friends. They have to be the nicest kittens - soon to be cats - that we
have known. They will soon be 6 months old and have already travelled to visit their cousin cats in
Winnipeg where they spent 2 weeks together. The volunteers that know them are welcome to come and see
them anytime. Just give us a call."
-- Lois & Larry
November - 2007 "Just a note to let you know that Storm and Opal are doing just great. They are a year and a half
old now and the close bond they formed as tiny kittens still remains. We take them outside, with their
harness and leash, for half an hour each day. They look forward to this outing. Opal likes to chase
the Fall leaves when the wind blows them. Storm is just happy doing whatever. Our new sunroom has
also provided them with many hours of pleasure as they can still experience, to some extend, nature.
We are so happy that we decided to adopt them and feel blessed every day to have them with us."

Bentley
"We adopted Bentley last May, after volunteering and seeing the little guy for almost 2 months! Every time we saw him we fell in love with him a little more.
Bentley was a little devil when we first got him, but soon learned the do's and don'ts from his sisters. Bentley has been a wonderful addition to the family,
he has such a wonderful personality people can't help but fall in love with him. We thought he'd grow to be about 40-50lbs but he's almost doubled that! (makes
for difficult sleeping when he's on the bed). We are so happy to have Bentley in our lives, he has taught us so much! We can't imagine what life would be like
without our little squeeker! Thanks to Tracy and all the wonderful volunteers who took such good care of our baby!! "

Sadie (Star)
September - 2006 "This is Star. Me and my boys renamed her (Sadie) - looks like Sadie has made herself
at home. She was very shy and timid when we got her but Sadie is so coming out of her
shell - we have had to replace a couple of pairs of shoes already. Sadie likes to torment
the cats Buffy and Chopper and when ever she has some spare time she likes to sit under
the Rabbit cage (Wilbur) . She is very comfortable in our yard and she has taken over
the deck. Lots of paw prints on the patio doors the Windex company will benefit lots.
Thanks for our new pet."
-- Diane, Jesse & Blake Cramer - Buffy, Chopper & Wilbur.
June - 2007 Just sending an update on our pet that we have had now for
just over a year, Sadie. She has couple of other names that we call her - Pants & Missy. She
is full of energy likes to play a lot, always frolicking around in the yard, with a rope,
empty water bottle, or even just the leaves. Just gives us lots of laughs, she is still
very timid of visitors always hiding behind me till she gets comfortable with them. Thanks
again for our Sadie Pants.

Sam and Tiger
"I thought you may like to know how our two adoptees are doing just over a year after
we brought them home.
You may remember Sam and Tiger. Sam, otherwise known as Shalako Sam the Second of
Wyndhaven to give his full title, is now 13 and was with the shelter for some time.
When we met him he was a sad, hissing and spitting cat who didn't want to be around
people at all. That Sam has now gone and what is left is a loving, happy cat (although
he has his moments) who loves to be with us.
At night he always comes to bed with us and claims that his half is the middle half.
We are allowed to sleep on what is left either side. Seven o' clock is breakfast time
for Sam (whether we like it or not) and he wakes me up by brushing around my face and
blowing in my ear. During the day he has his own bedroom with queen size bed, which
befits his kingly royal blood.
Tiger is the most loving (and clingy) cat I have ever known. Although his name is Tiger
still, he is more commonly known as Tubs for reasons that may be obvious. He loves to be
brushed, stroked and play, although playing sometimes involves sneaking up on Sam,
which is not so good. He really is a lovely cat.
Every afternoon in the Summer we like to sit out in the yard. Both cats come with us and
keep us company. Neither wear a harness and do not try to run away. They are both
really loved and not spoiled at all. (You may not believe that bit!)" -- Peter and Helen.

Jade
"Jade was adopted about a month ago and has filled the gap left from a previous cat
that we had to have euthanized. She is a "goer" and is constantly chasing our older cat
around the house. I can hardly believe the endless energy a kitten has. I would like to
thank the Humane Society for placing Jade with us. She is already part of the family."
