The PAW Program: PeeWee's Adoption Wish
Seeking Special Homes for Special Pets
The goal of PeeWee's Adoption Wish is to find loving homes for long-term shelter residents, special needs pets, and older animals like PeeWee who are often overlooked by prospective adopters.
PeeWee the cat was adopted at age eight by a Carberry family and he continues to bring joy to his humans.
So whenever you see this symbol: it means you're looking at a very special pet indeed!

Why Older Pets Rule:
- Older pets are usually well-behaved and know the rules while puppies and kittens require a lot of attention and training for the first year or two of their lives.
- Adult dogs and cats don’t need to be fed or taken outside as often as younger ones and can be left alone longer.
- Adult pets are stronger and less vulnerable to disease than youngsters.
- Pets over one year old have usually reached their full size and their personalities are also fully-formed, so there’s no second-guessing how they'll turn out.
- Adult pets are a better choice for seniors who may not be able to keep up with the demands of an active puppy or kitten.
- Adult pets from the Brandon Humane Society have already been spayed or neutered.
- Adult and senior pets are capable of great affection, devotion, and gratitude.
- And they are just as deserving of good homes as their younger rivals.
The Brandon Humane Society will be working in collaboration with the Wheat City Journal to highlight a different PAW Program pet every month with a full-length article and photo.
