Volunteering

Do you love animals? Few things will give you as much satisfaction as caring for homeless dogs and cats. And because this is a no-kill shelter, coming to work here is a joyful experience.

You’ll be able to watch wonderful transformations happen as abandoned pets receive the love, attention and medical care they need, and are adopted out to good homes.

Shifts are available in the mornings and evenings, seven days a week. The shelter is closed in the afternoons.

How To Volunteer

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and must first become members of the Brandon Humane Society.

Membership forms are available at the shelter or you can print off this membership form in .pdf format, fill it out and bring it to the shelter with your $10 membership fee. At the shelter, you will be given a volunteer application to fill out.

Volunteer Tasks

Our volunteers help out by cleaning kennels and outdoor yards, doing laundry, walking dogs, playing with and grooming the pets, making supply or vet runs, and other tasks as assigned by management or a senior volunteer.

You will be trained so no previous experience is required although familiarity with pets is recommended.

You may also be interested in helping the shelter by working at the Humane Society's information booth at the Brandon Shoppers Mall, working at fundraising events like the Wag-a-Tail Walkathon in September, or other events.
