You can help us in so many ways... by volunteering your time, by become a member, by making a donation of
supplies for the shelter and its animals, or by making a financial donation.
New Way to Help!
The Humane Society is trying out a new fundraising effort that's good for everyone - recycling! We
will be collecting aluminium cans to be turned in for cash. If you'd like to help us out, please
wash and squash your aluminium cans, put them in a bag and drop them off at the shelter. We ask
that you please ensure the cans are clean so they don't attract bugs.
If you don't have the time or space to recycle cans, an easy, space-efficient alternative is to
collect the tabs off the top of the cans. A convenient way to do this is by stashing them in a
small plastic milk jug that has been thoroughly washed out with soap and water and dried.
Another Cool New Way to Help!
Purchasing matching charity bracelets for you and your pet is a fun new way to help the Brandon Humane
Society! You can purchase these beautiful purple and white bracelets - humane and pet
size - at Best West Pet Foods. When you make the purchase, you simply specify whether you want the Brandon
Humane Society or Funds for Fury Friends to receive the proceeds. They are also great as gifts!
Make a Financial Donation
The Brandon Humane Society does not receive any government funding... we depend on donations from
private individuals and businesses to keep us running. And since we are a registered charity, your
donation is tax deductible.
You can donate in person at the shelter, or by mail.
Ways to Give
You can help us help the animals with:
- monthly corporate donations,
- school and community fundraisers,
- employee charitable funds,
- birthday party and wedding collections,
- memorial gifts,
- bequests (get more information on bequests here.)
Please feel free to contact us if you need help with your fundraising ideas or if you'd like us to visit your school or community group.
Volunteer
Do you love animals? Few things will give you as much satisfaction as caring for homeless dogs and cats. And because this is a no-kill shelter, coming to work here is a joyful experience.
You’ll be able to watch wonderful transformations happen as abandoned pets receive love and attention from our staff, volunteers, and veterinarians, and are adopted out to loving homes.
Shifts are available in the mornings and evenings, seven days a week. The shelter is closed in the afternoons.
How To Volunteer:
Contact us for more information about volunteering or pick up an application form at the shelter. Volunteers must be members of the Brandon Humane Society. (See details below.)
Click here for directions to the shelter and our mailing address.
We also need volunteers willing to help with the following:
- Walking the dogs. It does not have to be a full-time commitment, even an hour or two a week will help give a few shelter dogs their needed exercise.
- Mall Booth. Can you help us staff the Humane Society fundraising booth in the Brandon Shoppers Mall?
- Fundraising. Selling raffle tickets and other fundraising efforts are vital to our success.
Become a Member
Becoming a member of the Brandon Humane Society entitles you to a subscription to our quarterly newsletter (Paws 'N Claws), a vote at the annual general meeting, the right to apply to volunteer at the shelter or run for a position on the board of directors.
Simply print off this form (Membership form in .pdf format), fill it out and either bring it or mail it to the shelter with your fee: $10 for an individual, $20 for a family membership. Your membership fees help us keep helping companion animals in trouble. Thank you for supporting your Brandon animal shelter!
