Everyone Needs a Friend
The Brandon Humane Society (BHS) has created a new program known as "Everyone Needs a Friend"
program. The program was created so that our organization could give something back to the community
for the 60+ years of support. This program allows the staff and volunteers at the BHS to conduct
pet visits to local personal care homes. We are adamant that these types of programs are vital
for increasing the quality of life for long-term residents at these homes. Pet therapy has been
proven as an important staple for personal care residents.
Our organization is extremely excited about our partnership with the Manitoba Community Service
Council (MCSC) which is supporting this program as a "Pilot" for the 2007 calendar year. The MCSC
was established in 1984 by the Province of Manitoba, as part of an umbrella system, to serve the
voluntary sector in Manitoba. For additional information on MCSC, please visit them
